Lewis Hamilton had a qualifying nightmare and started the United States Grand Prix 17th on the grid, and finished it in a gravel trap after just two laps of the race

As Formula One returned to action following almost a month long hiatus following the Singapore Grand Prix, 7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton is not having the best of weekends as he made an early exit in qualifying.

Earlier this week in practice Hamilton had a spin in Turn 3, something that might have been an indication that he was in for a difficult week here in Austin. In the early stages of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix Hamilton spun off the track and into the gravel at Turn 19, bringing his day to a close on just the third lap of the race.

Lewis Hamilton was tipped as one of the favourites for pole position, but the seven-time World Champion didn't even make it out of the first part of qualifying. Hamilton will start the United States Grand Prix from 18th place on the grid,
