The fourth-ranked Gophers women’s hockey team saw a three-goal lead disappear as No. 1 Wisconsin scored four unanswered in a 4-3 Gophers loss Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis. The Badgers swept the two-game weekend series.

The Gophers managed only seven shots on goal in the third period (to Wisconsin’s 13), but Frost didn’t think his team played too conservatively with the lead.

After being held in check for two periods, the top-ranked Wisconsin women’s hockey team, which leads the nation in scoring, scored four times in the third period in a 5-0 victory over the No. 3 Gophers on Friday at Ridder Arena.

Laila Edwards, Lacey Eden, Hannah Halverson and Casey O’Brien all scored for the Badgers (8-0-0, 4-0-0 WCHA) in the final 30 minutes to complete the sweep of the Golden Gophers (4-3-1, 0-3-1 WCHA). The Badgers battled for the game-opening goal in the first period but both teams went into the first intermission scoreless.

Last weekend was the first time this season that Wisconsin's men's and women's hockey teams both played regular season games. The women's team remained dominant with a sweep of Minnesota Dululth, while the men's team split their season-opening series against Lindenwood.
