The Air Quality Index of Delhi worsened to 'very poor' category, as an AQI of 307 was recorded on Monday morning.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the 24-hour average AQI at 7:15 a.m. in Delhi was recorded at 307, which falls in the 'very poor' category. In most of the areas of the national capital, the AQI level remained between 300 and above 400 with Anand Vihar being worst at 367.

As cold weather settles in, pollution in all its forms is tightening its grip on Delhi, with the air quality in the city remaining in the "poor" category, though stubble burning has declined this year compared to previous years,

As many as 3,376 fire and stubble burning incidents were reported between 15 September and 19 October in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. This compares with 3,134 incidents reported during the same period last year.

According to the Centre’s Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, the city’s air quality is forecast to be in the ‘very poor’ category till Tuesday.
